Soundtrack of My Life

While making the 45 minute commute into Savannah, I had ample time to reflect on my life. As I drove thate lovely strectch of I-16, I thought about the impact that music has made on my life. Each memory that I cherish is somehow linked to music - like singing the Oldies with my parents while on family vacations, or dancing to certain tunes at my prom. So I've decided to compile a soundtrack for my life. If you feel so inclined, leave a comment with a song (or two or three) that you think I should include on this soundtrack. If you are feeling really adventourous include the reasons why I should add it.

I'll get it started:

My personal anthem: 'Who I am" by Jessica Andrews

I hope someone kept at least one hand on the wheel while you all signed the oldies. ;-)

Thanks for your prayers today. They helped in a big way.

Well duh... the Ramblin Wreck... duh! If I have to explain this one, then I'm sending you back to school. Maybe then you can figure it out. ;-)

Let's see what else...

Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffett. Concerts and what-not... Also represents a mindset that we had for quite a bit of time (and still have, especially during baseball season and the summers).

It's My Life by Bon Jovi. "This ain't a song for the broken hearted!" Plus we all went to the concert in Bertie's dad's box.

Keg in the Closet by Kenny Chesney, It's 5 O'clock somewhere by Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett, and Alcohol by Brad Paisley. Come on, alcohol and us? Of course!

Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks. Gotta represent those that take bats to cars in your name and don't even let you know until much, much later.

Tubthumping by Chumbawamba. "I get knocked down, but I get up again. You're never going to keep me down." Plus, you have to give props to Vic...

My Town by Montgomery Gentry. Because well, Alma is your hometown and only you can truly appreciate the good things and the bad things about it.

You Can't Take the Honky Tonk out of the Girl by Brooks & Dunn. Because you just can't. We can take you to various cities and stadiums across the country, but you are still that girl from a small town in South Georgia that on her first ride on Marta asked if that was really a transvesite.

Scars by Papa Roach. Because we know you have some. We all do.

Omaha by Counting Crows and Back Home in Omaha... because it only took the boys going to Omaha to get you on a plane for the first time. Even the football boys couldn't get you on a plane and they were playing in New York City!

Leaving on a Jet Plane. You finally got on one (see above).

Big Yellow Taxi by Counting Crows. "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot." Seems that's all they do around GaTech. First the infirmary parking lot, took that tailgating spot away. Never been the same since.

It's A Great Day to Be Alive by Travis Tritt. Shout out to Rhett's step-mom for finding this gem for all our tailgating adventures. I miss the old boys and their moms!

Complicated by Carolyn Dawn Johnson. You can be one freaking complicated girl at times.

Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding and Ain't Going Down till the Sun Comes Up by Garth Brooks. Remember that night sitting on the deck at my parents house making up new lyrics to Dock of the Bay? That was one long night... but hey, we got to see WH without his shirt on! Again.

The Cheap Seats by Alabama. Because nothing is better than watching the game from the cheap seats. Unless they are the free seats.

Family Tradition by Hank Williams, Jr. and You Don't Have to Call Me Darlin' by David Allen Coe. Another tailgating tradition. Thanks Slipp!

Playing with the Boys by Kenny Loggins (Top Gun Soundtrack). So many reasons, so little time.

You Can't Hurry Love by Diana Ross & the Supremes. Although you tried a time or two.

First Cut is the Deepest by Sheryl Crow. It is.

Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin.

Big Balls in Cowtown by George Strait. Tyler Parker says it all.

It's The End of the World by REM. Speaking of TP, you know he's the only one to ever know every single word of this freaking song.

Dead Skunk by Loudon Wainwright III. Dead skunk! Dead skunk! Dead skunk!

Drops of Jupiter by Train. She checks out Mozart while she checks out "TP"

Real Good Man by Tim McGraw. I hope thats one you got yourself now. Otherwise I'll just have to go and kick his butt for you.

Dream On by Aerosmith and The River by Garth Brooks. You are always up in the clouds, dreaming.

Where You Were (when the world stopped turning) by Alan Jackson. I know where I was... in the IC then the CoC, then in the dorm with you. Then we all packed up and went to my parents house for the night.

Come Together by The Beatles. Tracey and I became good friends when the two of us were fighting... so I blame it all on you!

Carolina in my mind by James Taylor. Bet you know why... Glenn and Kristina.

Something to Talk about by Bonnie Raitt. Well, duh! Always leaving 'em shaking their heads and asking what the hell just hit.

Devil Went Down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels Band. I'm not even going to try to explain this one.

Desperado by The Eagles. "The queen of diamonds for she'll beat you if she's able. The queen of hearts is always your best bet."

Who'll Stop the Rain and Have you ever seen the rain by CCR, Help Pour out the Rain by Buddy Jewell, Raindrops Keep Fallin on my head, and all those other rain songs. All I gotta say is rain delay in the dugout.

Stay (wasting time) by Dave Mathews. You went to that concert with Bertie...

What Was I Thinkin' by Dierks Bentley. Because we've said that one too many times before... and probably will many times again.

I'd Sure Hate to Break Down Here by Trace Adkins. Cuz it's true.

Here for the Party and Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson. Yeah, I don't think I need to explain these.

Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day. "It's something unpredicatble, but in the end it's right. I hope you have the time of your life."

Roll Out and Welcome to Atlanta... EPat and Vic. Come on, you know you love them.

Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne. It's Dickey Lou's song. And that's that. I don't care if Jake tried to take it. I don't care if Chipper claims it. It's Dickey's song.

Enter Sandman and Unforgiven by Metallica. Gotta love the Metallica at a game.

Forever in Blue Jeans by Neil Diamond. Okay, maybe that's me. But you know you love your jeans too.

Hey Baby by No Doubt. Remember this one? You know you love it.

Georgia on my Mind by Ray Charles. Because no matter what, no matter where you are, you know you'll always come back and you'll always be thinking of home.

And I'd add to the above:

"Midnight Train to Georgia" because no matter where else we always have that to come home to. If you get on the midnight train you're desperate to get there ASAP.

"The moon over Georgia" by Shenandoah. Not often played but it's a goodie. It's about the power of dreams and hopes for a future.

:-)
